#ConLaCultura – ‘New music by #SamplerSeries’ and ‘Paco Gómez Archive’ in FotoColectania

#SamplerSeries new musical formats

The Sampler Series festival offers new music, and we have supported it from its very first edition. This year marks its fourth edition, and it will be taking place in a number of venues, including L’Auditori, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), the Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture (CCCB), the Antoni Tàpies Foundation and the Joan Miró Foundation.

This Friday, 18 May, the International Composition Course (Curso Internacional de Composición) will be held, taught by Demian Luna, in L’Auditori at 8.00pm. This is a meeting space where young composers from all over the world can exchange their creative experiences, aesthetic concerns and their understanding of composition, within a creative process led by an internationally renowned composer and professional instrumentalists.

And during the weekend, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, you will have a chance to attend a two-in-one Sampler Series concert, where OBC and the Ensemble Intercontemporani will play ‘La Cuarta de Mahier’.

#AchivoPacoGómez, the poetical moment and the architectural image

Until June 17th, the Foto Colectania Foundation will be holding the exhibition ‘Paco Gómez Archive. The poetical moment and the architectural image’, which brings you over 150 images and other materials such as magazines and periodicals. Francisco Gomez is considered a singular member of the group of photographers who redefined Spanish photography in the 1950s.

In the exhibition you will be able to see photographs from his archive that reflect his two key personas as an architectural artist and photographer, as well as his editorial collaborations. The first part of the exhibition shows a series of photos from his early days, taken between 1957 and 1963, showing how his career has developed over the years through his interpretation of architecture, the periphery and emigration from the countryside to cities, amongst other aspects.
