The famous ‘BAL Y GAY’ classical music festival will be holding its seventh edition in Galicia, from 12 to 24 August. Performances and activities for all audiences will take place at different locations throughout Galicia (Foz, Mondoñedo, Viveiro, Ribadeo, Lourenzá, Barreiros, Trabada). Top musicians from both Spain and abroad will seamlessly intertwine their music with the region’s natural beauty and artistic heritage.
Real Filarmonía de Galicia, Cuarteto Quiroga, Juan Pérez Floristán, Cuarteto Cosmos with Luis Cámara, Ensemble Bal y Gay, Sponte Sua with Ana Vieira and Fernando Santiago, as well as Hot Chocolates, will perform in a programme that will include family concerts by Quinteto InVento and Arcos Iris, a conference on ‘How societies are transformed by music’, hosted by Nathaly Ossa, in addition to a screening of the ‘Dancing Beethoven’ documentary by Arantxa Aguirre.
The ‘Bal y Gay 2020’ Festival will kick off its seventh edition tomorrow, 12 August, with a performance by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia, conducted by Maximino Zumalave at the Mondoñedo Cathedral, with compositions by Mozart (‘Adagio and Fugue in C minor’), Bal y Gay (‘Concerto rosso’) and Mendelssohn (‘Symphony No.4’).
