Bachcelona, the summer festival with Bach in Barcelona

The Bachcelona festival arrives in Barcelona to offer different musical formats by Johann Sebastian Bach. The aim of this fourth edition is to promote the experience, interaction, sharing and other unexpected and entertaining aspects of Bach’s music. This year you can see classic music played by Ton Koopman in the Opening Bach concert and an innovative take on the artistic world with La Fura dels Baus and its Free Bach cantata.

Highlights of the festival

A series of concerts with varied formats will be held during the 6 days of the festival with a single purpose: to bring Bach’s music to all audiences.

Opening Bach, opens the programme this year with the concert trio Koopman, Mertens and Mathot, giving a tour through the chamber music of the 18th century. 21 July at 20:00h In L’Auditori Sala 2 (Oriol Martorell).

KinderBach, aimed at the youngest of audiences. Friday 22 July at 17:00h in the Sala Nombre of the Edifici del Rellotge.

Domestic Bach, for those who prefer small-scale concerts. Saturday 23 July at 17:00h at the House in the Plaça Reial.

Bachmospheres, the perfect chance to enjoy the best of Bach’s music while sharing a glass of wine. Saturday 23 July at 22:00h at the courtyard of the Frederic Marès Museum.

FreeBach, a production by La Fura dels Baus loosely based on the BWV 212 cantata. Sunday 24 July at 13:00h and 19:00h in Room 39 of the Moritz venue.

Bach is Back, a fusion concert mixing Bach with African percussion. Sunday 24 July at 20:00 h and 22:00h at the Jamboree Jazz Club.
