From September 16-24, Segovia celebrates the 12th edition of Hay Festival 2017 with a schedule of activties related to literature. Under the slogan ‘Imagine the world’ (‘Imagina el Mundo‘)the festival seeks to explore the world of literature through conferences, debates, exhibitions and workshops, with the objective of analysing, questioning and responding.
For this, more than one hundred events are being celebrated in which 160 persons related to architecture, literature, art, politics, media and gastronomy will all participate. This year’s guest list includes new faces such as the Peruvian writer Renato Cisneros, novelist Azriel Bibliowitz and the poet and translator, Juana Adcock. And thus, this year’s literary schedule is completed, which this year includes writers such as Jenny Valentine, Ben Okri, Jay Bernard, Dolores Redondo, Juan José Armas or Santiago Posteguillo, amongst others.
Some of the most noteworthy activities are:
-16 September: at 20.00 the opening of the ‘Escuchar también es leer’ exhibition at La Alhóndiga.
-17 September: at 12:30 conversation with Joan Tarrida and Jesús Ruiz Mantilla, and a baroque concert at Casa de las Flores de la Granja de San Ildefonso.
-19 September: at 18.30 workshop on ‘lectura de la obra de Jenny Valentine’ at the Biblioteca Pública de Segovia.
-21 September: ‘El arte en tiempos de los Medici’ workshop, at Capilla Museo Esteban Vicente.
-22 September: at 20:45 conversation between Dolores Redondo, winner of the Planeta award for ‘Todo esto te daré’ and Antonio San Jose, journalist. It will be held at the Santa Cruz la Real campus.
-22 September: opening of the ‘Too Good to Waste’ exhibition at the Ayuntamiento de Segovia
-23 September at 12.00 and at 17.00 ‘Llevar la poesía al aire libre’, poetry whisperers will be walking through the streets of Segovia to recite poems to passers-by.
-23 September: at 12:15 conversation between Antonio Muñoz Molina, one of the most prestigious writers in Spain and renowned academic of the Spanish Language, and Ana Gavin, director of the Departamento de Relaciones Editoriales of Planeta. It will take place at the Cpaill Museo Esteban Vicente.
-24 September: ‘Lecturas en el jardín: proyectos y ajenos’ at the Jardín del Romeral de San Macros.
