‘A minute of silence in Google’ by the young artist Juan Antonio Cerezuela Zaplana is the winning project of the Emerging Art Award Sabadell’ 17, granted by the Academy of Fine Arts in Sabadell.
It is an installation which compiles hundreds of pages written in the hexadecimal system, the flow of data between the artist’s computer and the internet during the connection between the Google home page, without entering any information or carrying out any searches.
It is a project which also alludes to the importance of time, a minute of silence in the Western world implies an act of meditation or reflection. Although this space for silence proposed by Cerezuela is very noisy. Whilst the computer is connected to the internet multiple interactions are formed, among them, the constant verification and update of the connection, information flows and invisible data.
