Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Marine Sustainability

The Banco Sabadell Foundation grants this award with the aim of encouraging and recognizing the work of Spanish scientists in the field of marine sustainability, the sustainable exploitation of resources, and the regeneration of its natural capital.



Cumulative requirements
  • Research staff up to 42 years of age (as of 31 December 2023) of any nationality. This age could be extended up to a maximum of one year for each offspring when there have been career breaks for childbirth and childcare leave.
  • Have been working for at least three years continuously in a Spanish centre in the field of
      • sustainability in the exploitation of marine resources, both in traditional marine industries (fishing, transport, aquaculture, coastal tourism, etc.) and in new emerging sectors (biotechnology, big data, renewable energies, regeneration, etc.).
      • regeneration of marine natural capital by recovering ecosystem goods and services.
  • The impact on the enhancement or preservation of biodiversity; pollution reduction/containment; and climate change mitigation/reduction must be demonstrated. 
  • Show tangible evidence of the transfer of scientific knowledge to applications that foster sustainable economic development.

 

Entries must be proposed by persons linked to universities or research centres.

Deadlines
  • Call: Applications will be open from 15 February to 1 April 2024
  • Announcement of the decision: The jury’s decision, which cannot be appealed, will be made public as of June 2024.
