Schedule for the weekend 1st July: cultural plans in Barcelona, San Sebastian and Valencia

This Saturday San Sebastian will be hosting a new version of Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer’s Night Dream’ at the Cristina Enea park. The play is one of the main highlights on the #Donostia2016 Capital of Culture program.

In Barcelona, the ‘Vivian Maier. In Her Own Hands’ exhibition is being held at the headquarters of FotoColectania. The exhibition is made up of 79 photos, the majority of which are unpublished, taken from the same reel of film that Vivian Maier never developed, through which she painted a picture of the streets of New York and Chicago.

Also in Barcelona, another exhibition which stands out, and is well worth visiting, is one that forms part of the fourth edition of the Festival of Documentary Photography, DOCfield16. It offers a critical view through the work of 100 artists and 30 different exhibitions held in different art centres, galleries, civic centres and photography schools…

The last cultural proposal for this weekend are the three concerts that are being performed as part of the Serenates festival in Valencia. The concerts (22:30h) will be performed at the cloister of the historical building of the University of Valencia, which is transformed into the ideal venue for the promotion of Valencian groups. Today, Friday, Estil Concertant are performing, tomorrow (Saturday) Leioa Kantika Korala will be performing and on Sunday, Orfeón of the University of Valencia will be performing.
