“We are very grateful for this initiative that rewards the work of professionals and students who are passionate about their craft, regardless of their track-record, and recognises the artistic skill of these young people that hope to carve out a great future in our country”, said Alberto Guerrero and Pablo Fernández, winners of the Award.
The Banco Sabadell Foundation and ANFACO-CECOPESCA give out the Design Award, which recognises and fosters creative talent among young designers and offers them an opportunity to showcase their work. After reviewing the more than 120 submissions, the jury of this fourth edition has decided to award the 4th ANFACO & Banco Sabadell Foundation Design Award to the joint proposal submitted by Pablo Fernández and Alberto Guerrero, two 25-year old graphic designers, for their packaging design. The jury appreciated its adequacy between content and container, its appeal and attractiveness and its success in the integration between image and typography. It also valued its inspiration in packaging classics but with a new twist, a fresh adaptation whose aesthetics refers back to homey and traditional designs using an attractive colour range with dynamic illustrations.
The design will be printed on the sleeves of tins used in the “Cata la Lata” campaign, which aims to encourage people to eat more tinned fish and seafood, over the coming year. In addition to the winning proposal, 9 finalists have been selected to form part, together with the winning proposal, of a digital catalogue that can be seen here on the ANFACO-CECOPESCA and Banco Sabadell Foundation website.
The jury was made up of renowned professionals from the graphic, audiovisual, artistic and historical design sectors: Miquel Molins, Chair of the Banco Sabadell Foundation (and Chair of the Jury); Juan Vieites, Chairman of the Galician Confederation of Entrepreneurs and former Secretary General of ANFACO-CECOPESCA (and Vice Chair of the Jury); Román Pereiro, Director of the agency Canal Uno and associate professor of audiovisual communication and advertising at the University of Vigo; Emilio Gil, graphic designer and founder of Tau Diseño in 1980; Laura Revuelta, Editor-in-Chief of ABC Cultural; and Paula Noya, artist and Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca.
The ceremony held today in the Pazo Los Escudos de Vigo Hotel was attended by various representatives from the worlds of art, advertising, politics and business. The Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero; the Chair of the Banco Sabadell Foundation, Miquel Molins; the Chairman of ANFACO-CECOPESCA, Iván Alonso-Jáudenes; and the Vice Chair of the Jury, Juan Vieites, took part in the ceremony.
