The Banco Sabadell Foundation contributes to the recovery and revitalisation of the territory of L’Horta Sud

The Banco Sabadell Foundation joins an unprecedented alliance in Spain with eight other donor entities – Fundación Adey, Fundación Juan Entrecanales de Azcárate, Fundación Bosch Aymerich, Fundación Caja Navarra, Fundación Gutiérrez Manrique (managed by Fundación Caja de Burgos),Fundación Mediterráneo, Fundación Roviralta y Fundación Daniel & Nina Carasso – to contribute to the recovery and revitalisation of the territory of L’Horta Sud. one of the areas most affected by the passage of the DANA in October 2024.

With this collaboration, the foundations contribute a total of 415,000 euros to the common fund promoted by the Horta Sud Community Foundation, to continue rebuilding the Valencian territory and strengthen the social and community fabric of the area.

This collaboration arises within the framework of the Committee of Donor Foundations, promoted by the Spanish Association of Foundations (AEF), with the aim of promoting shared projects, promoting cooperation and acting from the territory to respond to major social and environmental challenges.

All the proceeds go to the recovery project

The nine foundations have jointly contributed 415,000 euros, which will go entirely to the common fund managed by the Fundació Comunitària Horta Sud, the oldest community foundation in Spain. From the first day after the floods, the entity has channeled philanthropic resources to meet the most urgent needs of citizens and strengthen the local associative fabric.

“This alliance highlights the importance of cooperation and acting from the territory to face the challenges,” highlight the participating foundations.

Philanthropy based on trust and collective impact

The union of these nine entities represents a milestone in the Spanish foundational field, consolidating a model of philanthropy based on trust. This approach allows for a closer, more flexible and effective response, focused on generating collective impact from the local level.

“Joining forces and acting from the territory is the best way to contribute to the recovery of L’Horta Sud and Valencia. This alliance allows us to share resources, knowledge and capacities, generating synergies that multiply the impact and effectiveness of our action in the territory,” says Sonia Mulero, director of the Banco Sabadell Foundation.

For his part, Julio Huerta, director of the Horta Sud Foundation, says that this collaboration “is a decisive boost to continue rebuilding not only infrastructures, but also community links”.

A forward-looking recovery plan

The contribution is part of the Recovery and Transformation Plan of L’Horta Sud (2024-2028), drawn up based on the active listening of the community. The plan includes the creation of a community space, support programs for vulnerable groups, the recovery of heritage and family memory affected by the DANA, as well as the promotion of cultural, sports and training initiatives.

During the first year after the cold drop, the Horta Sud Foundation has mobilised more than 2.8 million euros, directly benefiting more than 400 associations and 100,000 people in the territory.

With this collaboration, the Banco Sabadell Foundation reaffirms its commitment to collaborative social action and the revitalisation of the territory, promoting initiatives that promote cohesion, sustainability and community resilience, and fostering alliances that multiply impact.
