On International Volunteer Day we celebrate a transformative commitment

Throughout 2025, over 100 volunteers have taken part in social impact programmes promoted by the Banco Sabadell Foundation

Here at the Banco Sabadell Foundation, we believe in the power of collaboration to generate a social impact. That is why today, on International Volunteer Day, we want to recognise and acknowledge the dedication of all of those at Banco Sabadell who take part in our volunteering programmes. This year, more than 100 volunteers from Banco Sabadell took part in the social impact programmes that we promoted alongside prominent institutions. Since 2017, over 830 staff have volunteered.

The commitment and solidarity of our volunteers are vital to the promotion of initiatives that change lives and help to build a fairer, more inclusive and diverse society.

We would like to thank each and every volunteer for dedicating their time and talent to projects that make a real difference. Their participation not only benefits those receiving their mentorship and support, but it also reinforces our mission as an organisation.

Below we share some of the experiences and testimonies of those who have taken part in these activities. Read on to find out how we have generated a positive impact!

B-Value: transformation of social entities through innovation

Through the B-Value programme, co-created with the Fundación Ship2B foundation, for 9 months we supported social entities to help them develop their projects from a strategic and innovative standpoint in order to bring about social transformation through innovation. Participants of this initiative included 40 mentors from Banco Sabadell and 10 mentors from Sabadell Seguros.

“Taking part in the B-Value programme as a volunteer mentor has allowed me to learn from immensely gifted and devoted people. It is an opportunity to grow and to make a real impact” Marta Cort Roselló, Head of Supervisor Relations at Banco Sabadell

Special Intervention Plan for Valencian Youths, promoted by the Fundación Princesa de Girona foundation

Ten mentors took part in the Special Intervention Plan for Valencian Youths (Plan Especial de Intervención para Jóvenes de Valencia), promoted by Fundación Princesa de Girona. The aim is to help rebuild the region and empower local youths through mentorship. The first group session took place at the Andrés Alfaro secondary school in Paiporta, one of the most affected areas, followed by online and one-to-one sessions in the following months.

“This was a magnificent opportunity that was offered to me in 2025. The first session with a group of young people was very enriching. They demonstrated their critical thinking, drive, eagerness to contribute and their excitement to move forward (from their point of view and despite the critical circumstances that they had lived through). And later, with the one-to-one sessions, the experience was intense but very rewarding. Not only because of what I was able to provide, but also because of what I was able to take away from it. I cannot say it enough – VOLUNTEERING is so much more than what it appears!” M. Pilar Martin de Miguel, Head of Organisation & People at the Eastern Territorial Division

University mentoring and talent management programme at CCTA

Young students from the University of Alicante and, as of the 2025-26 academic year, also from Miguel Hernández University, were supported during four months by professionals from Banco Sabadell’s tech skills centre in Alicante: Centro de Competencias Tecnológico de Alicante (CCTA). Together, they worked on a technological challenge that allowed them to develop key competences and skills necessary to face their professional future.

“It has been a very enriching experience. Helping a university student work on a technology project has allowed me to develop cross-cutting skills, such as communication and leadership, complementing my existing technical knowledge. It has also been an opportunity to share professional experiences and contribute to their growth, and I myself have also learned a lot from the process.” Aitana Molina García, Change Methodology Specialist

Hackathon TalentUO: searching for solutions to business challenges framed within the SDGs

30 students from the University of Oviedo spent two days taking part in Hackathon TalentUO, promoted by the Banco Sabadell Foundation and coordinated by U4IMPACT as part of the TalentUO initiative, which aims to support and give visibility to young talent. The students, with the help of Banco Sabadell employees volunteering as mentors, searched for solutions to some of the challenges faced by five companies, all of them within the framework of the SDGs. This year marked the programme’s fourth edition.

“Volunteering at Hackathon TalentUO has been a unique experience. In just two days, multidisciplinary teams transformed challenges into creative and practical solutions. This initiative shows that collaboration and diversity are key to creating an impact.” Raquel Martín Valcayo, Director of Oviedo Superdex Office

Research Hackathon UJI (Universitat Jaume I university)

30 students from the Universitat Jaume I university were helped by mentors during this event coordinated by U4IMPACT in order to work as a team to solve different challenges related to real-life difficulties in areas such as new technology, social impact, healthcare and environmental sustainability.

“I still can’t quite believe how extraordinary this experience was. The challenges put to the students were incredibly complex and ambitious. But the teams took it all in their stride and fully embraced those challenges. It was truly awe-inspiring to be part of the atmosphere that was created as the day went on. The ambition, creativity, teamwork, discipline… Everything that the teams brought to the table was incredibly inspirational. And it really gave everyone an energy boost. We definitely also got back more than we put in. I was like a kid in a candy store, it was a really great day. A superb experience!” Javier Sánchez Setién, Banco Sabadell branch manager
