Miquel Molins, Chairman of Banco Sabadell Foundation, has awarded the ‘XIV International Joan Guinjoan Prize for young composers’, organised by the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), with the collaboration of the Foundation to continue supporting talent and culture. The objective of this prize is to support the creations of new generations, and, at the same time, establish a framework for the creation of new works composed of different trends, styles and instrumental groups.
During the ceremony, Ensemble bcn216, conducted by Francesc Prat, debuted the winning composition of this edition, ‘The Arousal’, by Guillem Ponsí. In the concert, prior to the prize giving, other ESMUC students also played their own interpretation of other musical pieces.
The prize giving ceremony, which was held this Thursday 14th April at 20.30, was celebrated at the cloister of the Centro Arts Santa Mònica de Barcelona.
