‘Attitude, ideas, excitement, recognition, empathy…’ Read on to find out more about the highlights of the ‘10×10 Innovación en Cultura’ by Pública19

Once again this year, we have cooperated with the Contemporánea Foundation to bring you ‘10×10 Innovación en Cultura’, the platform that supports the most innovative cultural managers, which forms part of Pública19, held on January 31st at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

The event began with the traditional ‘Coffee with…’, which on this occasion we shared with our director, Sonia Mulero, along with eight participants (representatives of other institutions and other cultural managers). They spent one hour sharing their impressions about the cultural sector. Sonia Mulero explained the activities carried out by our Foundation, highlighting the programmes that we support, such as ‘B-Value’, which is aimed at social entities. Everybody showed an interest in matters such as how to communicate and gain visibility as a small company, what financial institutions value the most when it comes to cultural projects, as well as the current role of cultural managers.

After the coffee, it was time to show the documentary ‘No puedo no hacerlo’ (I can’t not do it), to celebrate the tenth anniversary of ‘10×10’. After a sneak preview of the short film, the curator of ‘10×10’, Antonella Broglia, led a round table in which the following people took part: Alberto Fesser, Chairman of the Contemporánea Foundation; Sonia Mulero, Director of the Banco Sabadell Foundation; Manuela Villa, head of art programmes at Matadero Madrid; and Borja Álvarez, Deputy Director of Cultural and Patronage Industries for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. They all highlighted the key role played by cultural managers when it comes to promoting the sector and bringing people closer to culture, as well as the importance of having cultural managers involved in projects in order to have a larger impact. One of the headlines was ‘promoting culture is vital given its social impact’.

The most eagerly awaited moment came at 12:00, when the 10 finalists were able to display their projects to a rapt audience. They had 5 minutes to showcase the value of their ideas, their creativity and, above all, the human value and impact that they could bring to society. The Foundation awarded 3 of the finalist projects:

La Regadera’, ‘Proyecto Barrios’ y ‘FART (Finding Art)’.

And we also decided to offer an impromptu opportunity to one of these projects, FART, offering them a place aboard the Imagine Express 2019 on February 22nd in order to further develop their proposal, with the help of experts and professionals from the technology sector in order to spread the word about the project in more cities. At the end, they will be able to exhibit the project at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
