Schedule for the weekend of 12 January: music, art, history and technology

Last few days to visit two exciting exhibitions in Malaga and Alicante:

-‘Fernando Ortiz’, the Diócesis de Málaga hosts this exhibition about the artist with the objective of sharing his works of art. The exhibition is comprised of sculptures which are conserved in Malaga (Bishop’s Palace, Cathedral, churches, penitential brotherhoods and museums) with others proceeding from cities such as Alcaudete, Ceuta, Jaén and Jerez de la Frontera. You can visit it until Sunday 14 January.

Some other of our cultural recommendations for this weekend are…

-Concert Sampler Series Tomorrow, Saturday 13 January with the percussion quartet Frames and the string ensemble Funktion who will present a selection of works by Alvin Lucier, for a range of instrumental and electronic devices, which show the exploration that the North American artist carries out of the auditive perception and physical properties of sound through different acoustic and psychoacoustic phenomenon. It will be held at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies.

-‘Big Bang Data’ in Boston, after stopping in Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires, London, Singapore and Prague. You can visit Big Bang Data at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until 30 March 2018. It is an exhibition which reflects on how the explosion of information is transforming the world.

Until 11 March 2018, Foto Colectania Foundation is hosting the exhibition ‘Total Records. Vinyl & photography’, to display a selection of 250 vinyl record covers which reflect the relationship between photography and music. Robert Frank and the Rolling Stones, Annie Leibovitz and Cindy Lauper, Madonna, George Michael and Miguel Bosé, amongst others, will be the protagonists of the exhibition.
